My Family Room uses Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) to keep your account secure. After entering your email and password, you’ll be asked to enter a 6-digit verification code. This extra step ensures that only you can access your account.
Here’s how it works and what to do if you’re having trouble:
1. Understand how 2FA works in My Family Room Depending on your profile settings, the system will send your 6-digit code in one of two ways:
By text message — if your mobile number is listed in your profile, a code will automatically be sent there.
By email — if no mobile number is listed, or you choose the “Send code to email instead” option, the code will go to your email address (the same one you just used to sign in).
2. Can’t receive the code by text? If your mobile number is outdated or incorrect:
Choose “Send code to email instead” on the 2FA screen.
Once signed in, go to Profile and use the pencil icon to update or remove the old mobile number.
This ensures you won’t run into the same problem next time.
3. Can’t receive the code by email? If your email address is no longer valid or you can’t access it, you’ll need help from your school or the My Family Room support team.
Visit this support article for steps on how to get assistance with a locked account or incorrect email address.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I don’t have a mobile number on file? The system will automatically send the code to your email address instead.
I typed in the right code but it says it’s invalid. What now? Double-check that you’re using the most recent code and that it hasn’t expired. If needed, use the "resend" option to receive a new one.
Can I change my email address or mobile phone number for 2FA? Yes. For instructions on changing your mobile phone number visit this support article. For instruction on updating your email address visit this support article.
Can I turn 2FA off? No. Two-Factor Authentication is required for all My Family Room users to keep accounts secure.
Why does it ask for a code every time I sign in? When signing in, you can choose the “Remember this device for 30 days” option. If you don’t check this box—or if you're signing in from a different device, browser, or app—you’ll be asked to enter a new code. For best results, use a personal device and select this option if it's available. |
